Charles L. Berg, 93, of Henrietta, died Saturday, November 3, 2012, at New Life Hospice in Lorain. He was born July 17, 1919 in Henrietta Township, and lived here his entire life. He graduated from Henrietta High School in 1937. He was a life long farmer and dairyman. He served as Henrietta Township clerk for 24 years, member of the Lorain County Farm Bureau, and was a 50 year member of the Grange. He was a life-long member of the Henrietta United Church of Christ where he served as Elder and Deacon for many years along with singing in the choir. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, bowling, and was an avid sports fan of OSU and the Cleveland sports teams.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Idabelle (Peabody); brothers, Ralph Berg, of Henrietta, and Earl (Geraldine) Berg, of Henrietta; three nieces, Grace (Rev. Randall) Gehres, of, Orville, Ruth Anne (Kenneth) Searles, of Dafter, Michigan, and Jennifer (Brent) Westover, of Vermilion; a godchild, Lois Logan, of Henrietta; a brother-in-law, Glen Gerstacker, of Henrietta; and a sister-in-law, Vivian Peabody, of Oberlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary (Heidrich) Berg; and his sister, Kathryn Gerstacker.
Friends may call Wednesday, November 7, 2012, from 10 A.M., until the time of Services at 11:30 A.M., at the Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman. Pastor Paul Eaton, of the Henrietta United Methodist Church, will be officiating. Burial will follow at Birmingham Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Henrietta UCC, in care of the funeral home.
