Glen Baker

Glen Baker, 79, of Kipton, passed away on September 5, 2012 at New Life Hospice in Lorain. He was born December 20, 1932 in Gregory, Kentucky, and has lived in Kipton since 1956.

He worked for Salo Tree Service in Oberlin for over 28 years and had also worked for Firelands Schools, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Kipton Community Church, founding member of the Kipton Sportsmens Club, Camden Fire Dept., Life Member of the VFW Post 451 in Lorain, American Legion Post 888 in Columbus, and the Amherst Eagles Aerie 1442. Glen was a 32nd degree Mason in the Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland and a member of the Oberlin Masonic Lodge #380. Glen served in the U.S. Army in Panama, guarding the canal. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gatha (Slagle); daughter, Glendola (Walter) Zickefoose of Wakeman; son, Tim (Beverly) Baker of Kipton; grandson, TJ Baker of Kipton; granddaughters, Amanda Brand of Wakeman, Jennifer Seeley of Wellington, Mariah Deitz, of Amherst, Bobbie Jo Kozak, of Amherst; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Cheyenne Brand, Taylor and Hailee Kozak, Savannah Grace Seeley, and Hayden John Deitz; sisters, Irene Davis of Indiana, Etta Lee Keith of Kipton; brother, Boyce Baker of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Piercy and Clora (Gregory) Baker; an infant brother, Bobby Lee Baker; and a great-granddaughter, Maranda Faith Seeley.

Friends may call Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 1 P.M. until the time of service at 3 P.M. at the Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman.
