James M. Mackert, Sr., 46, of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly at his home Sunday, February 13, 2011. Born in Lakewood, he was a lifelong resident of Elyria.
James worked in maintenance for U.S. Steel in Lorain. He was a member of Shepherd of the Ridge Lutheran Church, North Ridgeville.
He was a Harley enthusiast and owned one himself. He also enjoyed watching his daughter play softball, weight lifting, working on cars, playing Foosball and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, April A. (nee Mancuso); son, Jimmy, Jr.; daughter, Rachel; parents, James and Lois (nee Lengyel) Mackert; brothers, Joseph, Tim and Steve; sisters, Lisa and Lora; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Friends may call Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. Rev. Dale Critchley, Pastor of Shepherd of the Ridge,will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Avon.
