Walter Smith, Jr., 77, of Lorain, died Sunday, December 9, 2007 at Community Health Partners Regional Medical Center in Lorain. Mr. Smith was born May 11, 1930 in Winston Salem, North Carolina and had resided in Lorain for the past 57 years.
He was a retired construction worker and was a member of Local 759. He enjoyed watching cowboy movies, fishing, and playing cards.
He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Carlotta Rivera, Carmen Wright, Bobbi Smith and Kelly Zubaidah , all of Lorain; sons, Carlos Atkinson, Alan Smith, and Richard Smith, all of Lorain, Walter Smith III of Ashland, and James Smith of Elyria; sister, Fanny Mae Williams; and brother, Harry Lee Smith, both of North Carolina; 26 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Fannie (nee Wade) Smith, Sr.; daughter, Kimberly Smith in infancy; sister, Helen Blackman; and brothers, Nathaniel, Charles, and Alonzo Smith.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway, Lorain.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, December 13, 2007, at 1 P.M. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 3900 Clifton Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Peter Tower, Pastor, will officiate.
