Olive J. Miller (nee McConnell), 90, peacefully passed to new life and wholeness Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at Mill Manor Nursing Home, Vermilion.
Daughter of Ed and Lois McConnell, Olive was born February 20, 1917, in Wellington and graduated from Wellington High School in 1934 and Oberlin School of Commerce in 1936.
She was a resident of Elyria from 1942 until moving to Vermilion in 1991. She was employed as a secretary to the Publisher of the Chronicle Telegram from 1942 to 1947. She was employed at Elyria Savings & Trust from 1962 to 1967 where she retired.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Elyria, serving as a Sunday school teacher and officer of First Church Women.
She had been a Cub Scout and a Girl Scout Leader as well as caring for five foster children. She had also been a volunteer at Wesleyan Village in Elyria.
Olive is survived by a daughter, Karen (Philip) Schultz of Vermilion; son, Rev. Nathan (Eileen) Miller of San Jose, California; grandchildren, Mark Schultz, Maureen Schultz, Michelle Kibble (nee Schultz), Brooke Brokaw; and great-grandchildren, Olivia Schultz, Tyler Kibble, Morgan Kibble and Siarha Castillo; a sister, Leona Sooy of Spencer.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jessie Piper; and brothers, Joseph and Edward McConnell.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2007, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 330 Second St., Elyria. The Rev. Christina Kukuk will officiate.
In adversity and in joy, Olive remained faithful and gracious.
