Michael Bailey, 76, of Elyria, died suddenly on Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at his home.
Mr. Bailey was born February 16, 1931, in Wyoming, Ohio, and made his home in Elyria for most of his life.
He was employed as a conductor on Conrail Railroad for 43 years.
He was a member of the United Transportation Union and served as a union steward and as recording secretary.
He served with the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, a life member of the VFW Post 1079, where he served as treasurer of the Golf League.
He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and gardening. Mr. Bailey loved nature and often fed the animals. He also enjoyed word puzzles, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Mark A. Bailey of Elyria; daughters, Sharon M. (Anthony) Pshock of Elyria and Carol A. (Richard) Renner of North Ridgeville; a special friend, Emma Higgenbottham of Elyria; grandchildren, Sgt. Robert Bailey stationed in Iraq, Anthony Pshock of Grafton, Nicole and Stefanie Pshock, both of Elyria, Jordan, Jessica and Julianna Renner, all of North Ridgeville; great-grandchildren, Anthony Tyler Pshock and Amanda Pshock, both of Grafton; sisters, Anne Dominquez of Lorain, Sue Zilka of Amherst, and Olga Zilka of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia (nee Delesthathis) Bailey in 1997; sisters, Helen Noga, Mary Abraham, and Ann Griaffe; and his parents, John and Mary (nee Hakosh) Bailey.
Friends will be received 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home followed by 10 a.m. Mass at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar St., Elyria. The Rev. Frank P. Kosem, Pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, with full military honors provided by the VFW Post 1079.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Salvation Army, or to St. Jude Catholic Church.
