Leonard B. Cooksey, 85, of Huron, died Sunday, November 25, 2007 at the Norwalk Memorial Home after a lengthy illness. He was born January 1, 1922 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and had lived in Huron for 51 years, moving from Lorain. He was a veteran of the United States Army. HeÂ worked as a carpenter for American Ship, Lorain.Â HeÂ was also a lifeÂ member ofÂ VFW Post # 7576, Vermilion. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors includeÂ daughters,Â BeatriceÂ Squire of Lansing, Michigan, Barbara Cooksey of Huron; sons, GarlandÂ Cooksey of Huron, Noah Cooksey of Salida, Colorado,Â AlvenÂ Cooksey of Sandusky;Â and twoÂ grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Bonnie Cooksey, Oct 21, 2003; parents; infant twins; and three sisters, Ivell, Virginia and Kathryn .
Friends may call Friday, November 30, 2007 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct Military Services at 6:30 P.M.
Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 1 P.M. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
