Niles H. “Hank” Johnson Sr., 80, of Elyria, died Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at Wesleyan Village in Elyria, following a long illness.
He was born April 6, 1927, in Jamestown, N.Y., and was an Elyria resident for most of his life.
Mr. Johnson was a WW II Navy veteran. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed doing home remodeling work as well as painting cars and working on them. Mr. Johnson was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, V. Maxine, (nee Marks); daughter, Penny (Iggy) Csata of Elyria; sons, Niles Jr. (Pat) of Elyria, and Jeffery (Sheila) of Grafton; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Johnson; and parents, Nils L. and Winnifred (nee Steinhoff) Johnson.
Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2007, at Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Road at state Route 57, Elyria.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2007, at the funeral home. The Rev. Stacy Terrell will officiate. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
