Josephine R. Sliman (nee George), 89, of South Amherst, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Community Health Partners, in Lorain, following a brief illness.
She was born on October 24, 1917 in Cleveland and had resided in South Amherst for the past 61 years. Josephine was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in South Amherst and also was a former member of the Altar and Rosary Society there.
She enjoyed playing cards, cooking and spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Sam V; sons, Vincent Sliman (Karen) of Birmingham, Joseph Sliman (Margaret) of Alpharetta, GA, and David Sliman (Sally) of Oberlin; daughters, Rosemary Kucaj (Dale) of Westlake and Karen Reagan (Shawn) of Edinboro, PA; 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, John Sliman; parents, Joseph and Sadie (nee Moffet) George; brothers, George George and Edward George; and sisters, Caroline George, Elizabeth Hatton and Alice Banyasz.
Friends may call Monday, October 15, 2007 from 4 to 8 P.M. at Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst.
Closing Prayers will be Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at the funeral home at 9:45 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 333 South Lake Street, South Amherst at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
