William L. Wigton, III, 86, of Amherst, died Friday, September 21, 2007 at the Golden Acres Lorain County Home after a lengthy illness. He was born on March 21, 1921 in Peking, China, then moved to Lorain County when he was four.
William was a 1938 graduate of Oberlin High School and attended Oberlin College for one year, and Baldwin Wallace College for three years.
He was a salesman with May Company, retiring in 1981.
He was an army veteran of WWII. He was a fighter pilot, stationed in England.
He enjoyed football, golf, reading and automobiles.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Anita (nee Valletta) Wigton; sons, Todd Wigton of Amherst, William (Chip) Wigton, IV of Oberlin; daughters, Amy LaCarrubba of CA, Cindy Bailey of Sharon Center, Barbara Kozlowski of MI; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother, George L. Wigton of Auburn, ME.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles, Sr. and Elizabeth (Lowry) Wigton; brother, Dr. Charles E. Wigton, Jr.
