Theodore M. Mathis, 51, of Elyria passed away Sunday, September 23, 2007 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Theodore was born in Elyria on February 1, 1956 and had been a life long resident. He had been employed by Ford Motor Company until becoming disabled. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of New Freedom Gospel Church in Vermilion.
He enjoyed reading the Bible, listening to music, watching NASCAR, sports and especially spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. Mathis (nee Smith); daughters, Alisha Mathis and Dana Eisel both of Lorain and Angelica Mathis of Akron; sons, Charles Patterson, Phillip White and Aaron Mathis, all of Elyria and Fabian Mathis of Akron; seven grandchildren; five brothers; three sisters; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elder Charles L. and Rosa (nee Wheeler) Mathis Sr.; one brother; and one sister.
Friends may call Thursday, September 27, 2007 from 2 to 4 P.M. at Abbe Road Baptist Church, 670 N. Abbe Rd., Elyria where services will be held at 4 P.M. Pastor Donald New of New Freedom Gospel Church of Vermilion will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by Thomas Mihalis Post #1079, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Elyria.
