Gerald A. Glasmyer, 68, of Elyria died Thursday, September 20, 2007, at his home following a long illness.
He was born July 29, 1939 in Cleveland and was an Elyria resident since 1979.
Mr. Glasmyer was employed as a set-up man at General Motors in Parma for 30 years, retiring in 1998. He was a veteran of the Army, and a member of the Wellington Eagles Lodge, and enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife and caregiver, Virginia (nee York); daughter, Linda (husband Jamie) Collins of Elyria; two grandchildren, Jillian Lacy and Justin Kenneth Collins; sister, Eleanor Wray of Cleveland; special niece, Lynne (husband Jim) Toth of Wellington; other numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Adeline Glasmyer; sister, Adella Panoska; and brother, William (Billy) Glasmyer.
Friends may call Friday (today) from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Road at state Route 57, Elyria.
Services will be Saturday, September 22, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
