Robert W. "Bear" Brown Sr., 70, an Amherst resident, died Monday, September 17, 2007 at Golden Acres Lorain County Nursing Home, following a long illness. He was born in Borgman, WV, and lived there until moving to Amherst in 1963.
From 1959 to 1963 he served in the U. S. Navy.
In 2001 he retired from the Lorain Assembly Plant of the Ford Motor Company, where he was a repairman since 1964. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst, and the following organizations: American Legion Post 118, Amherst, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1442, Amherst, United Auto Workers Local 425 Retirees, and Remember Cruisin Car Club.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Nancy L. (nee Loughry); daughter, Dawn Albu of Lorain; a son, Robert W. Brown Jr. of Amherst; and four grandchildren; Michelle, Ryan and Brandan Albu, and Lauren Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. (1988) and Pauline E. Parker (1968) Brown; brothers, Steven L. (1942) and William (2007).
Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Ave., Amherst, Tuesday, September 18, 2007 from 5 to 7 P.M.
Everyone please meet at 10 A.M. Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 10 A.M. for the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst. Rev. James Mazanec, Associate Pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Cleveland Street Cemetery, Amherst. Military rites will be conducted by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst, OH 44001.
