Floyd Olsen, 88, of Wellington, died Monday, September 17, 2007 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a short illness. He was born October 7, 1918 in Wellington and had lived there all his life.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945.
Mr. Olsen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wellington, a member of VFW of Wellington, and Eagles Club #2051 of Wellington.
Floyd was a volunteer Fireman for Wellington Fire Dept. for 40 years. He worked as a Postal Carrier for Wellington Post Office for 29 years, retiring in 1980. He also volunteered at Findley State Park and was a clown at all the 4th of July parades in Wellington.
He enjoyed fishing, and attending the Lorain County Fair.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Janet Mary Olsen of Wellington; sons, David W. of Wright City, MO, Douglas K. of Nova, Todd A. of Milan; daughters, Laura L. Hoy of Nova, and Susan K. Brosius of Sullivan; 18 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janet Dana of Kaneohe, HI.
He was preceded in death by his father, Karl Olsen; mother Judith Wettland; son, Terry F.; brothers, Orving and Karl; and sister, Elfie Felkner.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the T.G. Cowling Funeral Home, Wellington. Funeral Services will be 11 A.M. Thursday, September 20, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Wellington. Rev. Thomas Alexander, First Baptist Church of Wellington will officiate. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thursday, September 20, 2007 with full military honors conducted by Elyria Post #1079 with VFW Wellington Post attending.
