James Albert Kerr, 87, of LaGrange, died at Medina General Hospital, on Sunday, August 12, 2007, following a long illness. Mr. Kerr was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 19, 1920, and lived in LaGrange since 1980. He was a graduate of Lakewood High School in 1939 and served with the United States Army during WW II. Mr. Kerr was employed by the Ford Motor Company in Brookpark in the Maintenance Department for 24 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of Penfield Community Church and he enjoyed model railroads.
He is survived by sons, Ralph (Gloria) Kerr of Medina and Neal (Cheryl) Kerr of LaGrange; daughter, Sheila (Tony) Rieger of Elyria; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sister, Eleanor Samsel of Florida.
Mr. Kerr was preceded in death by his wife, Alethia Pauline Kerr (nee Strauss) in 2002; one grandson, Benjamin Rieger; and his parents, James and Emily (nee Sampel) Kerr.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, on Wednesday, August 15, 2007, from 10 A.M. until the time of Services at 11 A.M. The Reverend David Burman, Associate Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Elyria will officiate.
Burial with full Military Honors provided by the VFW Post 1079 will follow in Ridgehill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
