David L. Hornbeck, 57, of Avon Lake, formerly of Madison WI, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2007, of heart failure. Mr. Hornbeck was born April 2, 1950, in Pittsburgh PA and had lived in Avon Lake since 1988. Mr. Hornbeck was a graduate of West Virginia University, with a degree in Journalism. He was a General Contractor, owner and president of Crooked River Construction. He had a joy for cooking, his specialty was Cioppino. He also enjoyed fishing, golf, and working in his yard and garden.
Mr. Hornbeck is survived by his wife, Patricia A. (nee Jones) whom he married June 26, 1971; daughter, Jennifer Borra of Avon Lake; son, Brian Hornbeck of Avon Lake; and granddaughter Alaina Borra. He is also survived by his mother, Dorothy Iams (nee Schaeffer), of Phoenix AR; and sisters, Marty French and Kathy Steele, both of Phoenix AR. He is preceded in death by his father, Walter Hornbeck; and step-father: Richard Iams.
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Road, Avon from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday, August 12, 2007. Services will be Monday at a time and place to be announced. Rev Beth McKee, Chaplin, Wesleyan Village, Elyria, will officiate.
