Mary Burtze (nee Rogan), 92, of Lorain, died Monday August 6, 2007 at her home while under the care of New Life Hospice. She was born November 13, 1914, in Vestaburg, PA, and had resided in Lorain most of her life. Mary worked at U.S. Steel in the Galvanizing & Coupling Shop for 30 years before retiring. She worked alongside her husband, Frank, and when they retired they were featured in a story in the Lorain Journal. She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain and enjoyed cooking, crocheting and working around her home.
She is survived by her sons, Frank Burtze and his wife Mary of Elyria, Jerry Burtze and his wife Sherry of Lorain; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great- granddaughter; and 2 sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank F. Burtze in 1980; parents, John & Annie Rogan (nee Stas); 1 great- granddaughter; 2 sisters; and 1 brother.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 10, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain, where Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2007, at 11 A.M. The Rev. Laurie Miller, Pastor of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
