Irma May Randle, (nee King), 97, of Frederick, MD, went home to be with the Lord on August 3, 2007. Born in Oberlin, she attended the Oberlin Public School systems where she excelled in music, especially playing the piano. She played in a jazz band in her younger days, but preferred playing Gospel more than anything. A member of Rust United Methodist Church of Oberlin, she sang in the Senior and Gospel Choirs, along with playing the piano and hosting musical events at the church. She enjoyed cooking, bicycling, spending time with her family and especially working with children of all ages.
She is survived by her sister, Bettye Bryant of Elyria; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Helen Hodge; grandparents, Samuel and Cora King; brothers, Ellsworth Smith and Raymond Smith; and sister, Marie Cousins.
Friends may call Saturday, from 9 A.M. until time of Service at 9:30 A.M. in the Rust United Methodist Church, 128 Groveland Street, Oberlin. Rev. L. Smart, Pastor, and Rev. Jonathan Davis, Pastor of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church of Knoxville, MD., will officiate. Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin.
