Barbara M. Teli (nee Martin), 94, also known as “the lady in purple,” passed away Friday, July 6, 2007 at Columbus Colony Elderly Care in Westerville. She was born February 3, 1913, in Lafayette, IN, and moved to Westerville seven years ago coming from Sheffield Lake where she lived many years. Mrs. Teli was a graduate of the Indiana State School of the Deaf and was a member of the Northeast Ohio Senior Citizens of the Deaf in Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties. She was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, crocheting, sewing and gardening.
Mrs. Teli is survived by two sons, Martin Teli (Madeline) of Amherst, and Jonathan Teli of Woodstock, GA; a daughter, Karen Sabetta (Anthony) of Brunswick Hills; nine grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. (1994); four brothers, William, John, Albert and James Martin; and her parents, Albert and Sarah (nee McBee) Martin.
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake, from 10 A.M. until Noon, Saturday.
Memorial Services will be held at the funeral home Saturday, August 11 at Noon. Rev. Deanna True will officiate. Internment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Memorials may be forwarded to Community Services for the Deaf, 1913 North Ridge Road East, Lorain, OH 44055.
