Darlene Maria Quinn, 50, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Lorain Community Health Partners. Miss Quinn was born in Lorain and had been a lifelong resident.
She graduated from Lorain High School in 1975. She received a bachelors degree in business administration from Dyke College in Cleveland, and received an associate degree from Columbus Technical Institute in Columbus.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Lorain where she was serving as the church secretary. She also served on the courtesy committee and sang in the gospel and senior choirs.
She was a member and historian of the Lorain Negro Business and Professional Women, member of the Delta Club Honors Society through Dyke College, founding member of Lorain Old School, and she was the past vice-president and trustee of the Booker T. Washington Housing Association.
She received a gift of life through a kidney donation from her sister, Gwendolyn Willis-Tye, in 1980. Through this experience she was inspired to become an organ donor.
She will be sadly missed by her mother, Ida J. Quinn (nee Patterson) of Lorain; brothers, Luther C. Washington of Lorain; Richard L. Washington and Donald (Ethel) Washington, both of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters, Dorothy J. Washington, Barbara Quinn-Aldridge and Diane Quinn-Austin, all of Lorain, and Gwendolyn (Sullivan) Willis-Tye of Akron; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Miss Quinn was preceded in death by her father, William Arthur Quinn; paternal and maternal grandparents.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 4, 2007 from 10 A.M. until time of services at 12 Noon at Second Baptist Church, 300 West 13th St., Lorain. The Rev. Loversier Lewis, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
