Kenneth L. Ahr, 59, a resident of Amherst, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at his home following a lengthily illness. He was born in Buffalo, NY on April 1, 1948.
He was a 1967 graduate of Marion L. Steele High School.
He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal.
He received his associate degree from LCCC and his Bachelors Degree in Law Enforcement from the University of Cincinnati.
He worked at Ford Motor Company in Avon Lake.
He was involved in martial arts training and enjoyed instructing others.
He was a former instructor at Lorain County Community College and for the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst, a member of the Amherst Eagles Aerie 1442 and the American Legion Post 118.
He enjoyed outdoor activities and was an avid boater and fisherman.
Survivors include his parents, Edward and Doris Ahr (nee LaCroix) of Amherst.
Friends may call Sunday, July 15, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, where Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 16, 2007 at 1 P.M. The Rev. Terrance Adamson, pastor of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 115 Central Dr., Amherst, OH 44001.
