Rose Mary Swan (nee Eonta), 77, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Amherst Hospital E.R. following a sudden illness. She was born January 29, 1930, in Canonsburg, PA. She was raised, and had made her home in Pennsylvania for 33 years before moving to Amherst. Rose was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Italian American Veterans in Lorain. Rose loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling, sports, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Indians fan.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Allen Swan; son, Tad Swan of LaCross, WI; grandchildren, Rochelle Swan, Hollie Swan, Daniel Swan, Matthew Swan, Nicholas Swan and Michael Swan; brother, Joseph Eonta of North Carolina; sisters, Cecilia Scheldt of Baltimore, MD, Caroline Dormo and Virginia Dick both of Michigan; Mary Uchal of Canonsburg, PA, and Joanne Hoffman of Cecil, PA.
She was preceded in death by sons, John Allen Swan in 2004, and Brian Charles Swan in 1959; brothers, Charles, Phillip, Nicholas; sister, Emiline Renk; and parents, Alexander and Frances Eonta (nee Lucciola).
Friends may call Friday, July 13, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 11 A.M. from the funeral home. The Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
