Mac Kenneth "Big Mac" Young, 42, of Lorain passed away Saturday in the Community Health Partners of Lorain following a short illness. A life long resident of Lorain, he graduated from Lorain High, Class of 1984, where he played football and wrestling.
Mac was employed as a cook by trade with the Ohio Turnpike, and with St. Joseph Hospital in the dietary department, and for Elyria Maintenance.
A member of Second New Hope Baptist Church of Lorain, Mac served as president of the usher board and as a trustee.
Mac Enjoyed fishing and card games.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Young of Lorain; sisters, Lillie Pearl Bacon of Forestville, MD, Ida Delores Young, Carolyn Weatherspoon, Anita Davis all of Lorain, Theresa Young of Grand Rapids, MI, Lakisha Cummings of Marietta, GA, Flora Mae Clark and Gail Young both of Racine, WI; brothers, Willie Lee Shumpert, Billy Shumpert Jr. and Curtis L. Young Sr. all of Lorain, Perry Mac Young Sr. of Elyria, Keith T. Young of Marietta, GA, and Melvin Young of New Albany, MS; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, Mckinley Mac Young and Hattie; sisters, Virginia Watkins, Ida Marie Young; paternal grandparents, James and Ida Boyer; maternal grandparents, Robert Watson and Lillie Mae Simmons.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 P.M. until time of service at 7 P.M. in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, 3001 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where the Rev. Franklin Churchwell and Rev.
