Margaret P. Zeller (nee Vargo), 77, of Elyria, died July 6, 2007 at EMH Regional Medical Center. She was born, August 22, 1929 in Elyria, where she was a lifelong resident and a graduate of Elyria High School in 1947. She was a former secretary at the Elyria Farm Bureau and was then employed by the Elyria City Schools in the Food Service Department. She was Assistant Head Cook at Elyria High School until retiring, after which she continued to work part time. She was a member of Magyar United Church of Christ and the Dorcas Guild of the Church. She worked for Church dinners and every Tuesday made Hungarian noodles at the Church. She was a volunteer at Bradley Bay Health Care Center in Bay Village. Every year she would can the vegetables from a garden she and her son would plant. She also enjoyed cooking at family activities.
Margaret is survived by daughters, Kathleen Cole of Elyria, Nancy (Jimmy) Gruss of North Olmsted; son, John (Kathy) Zeller of Elyria; grandchildren, Stacy and Stephen Cole of Elyria and Jonathon Cole of Missoula, MT; step grandchildren, Doug and Dylan Holt of Elyria; great-grandchildren, Logan McDonough and Izabella Cole of Elyria; sister, Sylvia (Richard) Goeke of Rossford; three nephews; aunts; and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Zeller in 1978; parents, Louis and Bertha Vargo.
Visitation will be Monday from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A funeral service will be Tuesday, 11 A.M. at Magyar United Church of Christ, 6119 West River Road South, Elyria.Rev. Alana Kelley will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dorcas Guild of the Church.
