Mary Alice Reed (nee Walker), 88, of Lorain, died Friday, June 8, 2007 in Lorain Community Health Partners, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Ripley, TN on February 23, 1919. She moved to Lorain in 1942 and lived here for the remaining years of her life.
Mrs. Reed was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Lorain. She was an avid homemaker, and the precious mother of seven children. She enjoyed her children, cooking, sewing, and everything that involved the home.
Survivors include one son, David B. Reed of York, PA; five daughters, Bettye J. Dowell, Margaret A. Greer, Rosemary Reed, Linda J. Gantt, all of Lorain, and A. Marie Thornhill of Strongsville. She was blessed with 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandaughter; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Walker and Madie Carter; a brother, James Walker; a son, Robert Jerry Reed; and a grandson, Michael Dowell.
Friends may call Thursday, June 14 from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. at Original Glorious Apostolic Church, 995 Foster Avenue, Elyria. The Elder Courtney Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain. Arrangements by Brown-Robinson Funeral Home.
