Mary Elizabeth Maben (nee Crook), 81, of Elyria, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2007 at Wesleyan United Methodist Village in Elyria following a brief illness. Mrs. Maben was born November 15, 1925 in Ashport, TN and grew up in Ripley, TN. She later moved from Tennessee to Ohio, residing in Elyria. After graduating from Midview High School she returned to Ripley where she later met and married Brady Maben in 1946. She and her husband moved back to Elyria in 1951, where she had since resided. She was a member of the former Antioch Baptist Church in Elyria. She worked for General Motors in Elyria until its closing and later worked for Trio Products. She enjoyed fishing and gardening. She especially loved taking care of her grandchildren.
Mrs. Maben will be sadly missed by her husband of 61 years, Brady Maben; daughters, Wonder J. Brown, Rita Bowman, Vickie McDonald and Kim Maben, all of Elyria; sons, Charles D. Maben and Larry W. Maben, both of Elyria; sisters, Maxine Whitfield, Carolyn Benson, both of Lorain, and Charlene Jordan of NJ; brother, Chester Crook of Lorain; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ada Crook (nee Glass); father, Charlie Crook; step-mother, Willie Frances Crook; brother, Eddie Crook; and a grandson, Kevin Brown.
Visitation will be Friday from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. at TrueVine P.B. Church, 737 W. 18th Street in Elyria, where Elder James R. Furcron Jr. is the pastor. Rev. Willie A. Gardner, pastor of Unity Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon Lake. Arrangements by Brown-Robinson Funeral Home.
