Martin O. Arndt, 81, of Wellington, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 in his home after a short illness. He was born December 31, 1925 in Maysville, Kentucky and grew up in Cleveland. He had lived in Wellington since 2002. He was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran who served as a Gunners Mate, Third Class in the Pacific Theater. He also served with the U.S. Naval Reserve. He worked as a tool and die maker for over 45 years with Modern Tool & Die Co., Cleveland, retiring in 1991. After retirement, he worked as a car porter for local automobile dealerships in Lorain County. He enjoyed woodworking, working with leather and keeping up with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of seven years, Beverly (Hayes) Arndt of Wellington; sons, Dave (Lisa) Arndt of Lorain, Jamie (Deborah) Marquardt of Cleveland; daughters, Sherry (Robert) Rafn of N. Ridgeville, Susan Dulemba of Colorado, Jill (Charlie) Michalak of Spencer and Shelley Davis (Matthew) Nowak; 20 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 P.M. in the Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. Visitation will also be Thursday from 11 A.M. till the time of a service at 12 P.M. in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Mullett of Spencer, First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
