Fire causes $318,000 in damage to Lorain office building

A fire called in at 9:56 p.m. Tuesday destroyed an International Party Manufacturing office building at 1739 Iowa Ave., Lorain.

The roof of the 7,600-square-foot building partially collapsed shortly after firefighters arrived about 10:05 p.m., according to Assistant Fire Chief Roy Cochran.

Firefighters, assisted by colleagues from Elyria and Sheffield, contained the fire at 1:51 a.m. Wednesday but a crew remained on the site dousing hot spots until around 3 p.m.

The fire caused about $318,000 in damage to the building and contents, Cochran said.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.

The building was valued at $87,060 and owned by Muzilla Properties LLC, according to the Lorain County auditor’s website.
