UPDATED: 2 men shot on Reed Road in North Ridgeville

NORTH RIDGEVILLE — Two men are recovering after being shot Sunday afternoon while in a home at 9410 Reed Road.

Police did not identify the men. One was shot in the arm and the other in the left leg.

Police responded to a call at 4:30 p.m. from a woman who said her boyfriend had been shot in the leg, according to police radio transmissions.

Police Lt. Greg Petek said two suspects were caught about 4:50 p.m. on Island Road near Don Mould’s Plantation, a nursery and garden center at 34837 Lorain Road, about 1.5 miles from the home where the shooting took place. The suspects, who police didn’t identify, were apprehended by K-9 Officer Bear and his handler, Officer Brook Stewart.

Petek said the motive for the shooting remained under investigation Sunday. A police dispatcher said Sunday night that the suspects had not been charged.

At 5:30 p.m., the street outside the two-story, wood-framed home off Root Road and about half-block south of Donna Street remained blocked by police.

A black Nissan Sentra, with its front driver’s-side and passenger-side doors open, was stuck in the mud in the driveway of the home. Petek said police believe the men tried to drive away, then fled on foot when they got stuck.

Police photographed the Nissan and searched for a gun or guns in the area. A pistol found in the driveway near the Nissan turned out to be a BB gun.
