ELYRIA – The Lorain County Department of Job and Family Services and the county commissioners have reached a tentative agreement during contract negotiations.
Lorain County Department of Job and Family Services walked off the job on Monday as part of a long-running labor dispute. The commissioners have been trying to reach a deal with the 164-member United Auto Workers Local 2192 since July, according to a news release.
County Commissioner Lori Kokoski said she was happy that striking workers would be back to work soon.
“I just want to thank our bargaining team with finally coming to a tentative agreement that should be approved later today,” she said.
The contract is expected to be voted on at 1:30 p.m. today, according to the union’s bargaining chairwoman, Kelly Fields. Fields said she could not comment on the contract until it is approved.
