Man reports thieves took his backpack

OBERLIN — A man told police he was robbed by two men on bicycles on North Pleasant Street.

Miles Serber called 911 at 10:59 p.m. Wednesday to report that a man jumped out from a row of bushes and grabbed his backpack before running away. Serber said he tried to chase the man, who ran to an accomplice who had a bicycle waiting for him.

The two men rode off on bicycles before Serber could catch them, according to a police report.

Serber told police the man who robbed him did not brandish any weapons during the incident, but he ripped his shirt during the scuffle.

The men made off with a MacBook Pro, a Maschine MK1 music making device, two books and the black Patagonia backpack.

Police searched for the men but were unable to find them.

Serber described the robber as a black male with short dreadlock-style hair or braids, about 5-feet, 11-inches tall and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans. An Oberlin police report did not contain a description of the accomplice.
