ELYRIA — A seemingly random attack early Tuesday left a man with two small stab wounds in his arm and virtually no idea of his attacker’s identity.
Bernard Smith, 20, of Lorain, told police that he was walking to his girlfriend’s house in the 500 block of South Abbe Road around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday when he was attacked. Smith told police that someone called out behind him as he was walking between the railroad tracks and Cleveland Street. When he turned to see who had called out, a man came up to him, upset, and began fighting with Smith. According to Smith, the man stabbed him in his left arm with an unknown object, leaving two small puncture wounds by his tricep. Smith told police the man then ran north.
Smith told police he couldn’t provide a good description of the attacker’s clothing or features.
Smith was taken to EMH Elyria Medical Center for his injuries.
