Faithful church members make 9th annual Cross Walk down Broadway

LORAIN — Church of the New Harvest member Jarrod Adams has carried the cross symbolizing the sacrifice his Savoir made for him every year for the National Day of People with Integrity Cross Walk.

And, Saturday was the ninth consecutive year Adams, of Lorain, participated in the walk spent in prayer.

“I am praying for the people in the community,” Adams said as he walked down Broadway.

Pastor Danny Parsons said it’s difficult to deny the hurt, poverty and sickness within Lorain County.

“Crime is at an all time high, the economy keeps dropping and the struggle gets harder each day,” Parsons said.

Yet relying on his faith has helped him see the beauty in the county, too.

“I look out at a beautiful sunset across Lake Erie, I see renovations taking place in our cities,” he said. “There still is hope, we cannot give up. We can walk in the grace of God more today than ever before.”

As the participates walked down Broadway, the support the church received on Saturday and in years past are ways, Parsons believes, people are allowing their light to shine as a beacon of God’s love.

“People honk or gives us a ‘thumbs up,’" Parsons said.

Already looking ahead to next year’s Cross Walk, Parsons said he is hoping to bring together 10 churches and walk 10 miles.

“I have big plans for next year,” Parsons said.
