AVONLAKE – A new wellness clinic, focusing on combating drug addiction, will open in Avon Lake.
The Lorain County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services – Avon Lake Wellness Center will open around October. The project was announced during Monday night’s City Council meeting.
The city has been working with Lorain County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services to open up the clinic after several well-attended drug forums in the city. Avon Lake Mayor Greg Zilka, who has been instrumental in the drug clinic’s formation, said problems with drug abuse are not limited to Avon Lake, but he said LCADA saw a need for opening up a wellness clinic in the area.
“We’re very excited about it,” he said. “We think it’s going to make a big difference in this county.”
