Shirtless man with handgun questions neighbors about possible robbery

LORAIN – A Lorain man who said he arrived home on Monday to find his TV, Xbox and iPad missing grabbed his Smith and Wesson handgun and roamed his block, questioning neighbors, police said.

James Powell, 29, of Lorain was issued a summons for inducing panic around 11 p.m. on Monday after police say he walked around the 300 block of West 27th Street, shirtless, holding a handgun and allegedly asking neighbors where his TV was.

When police arrived at the scene and ordered Powell to drop the gun, he complied but told police he was trying to find whoever had robbed his house, police said.

Powell’s fiancée, Tara Kokoski, who was with Powell at the time, told police that when she and Powell arrived at their home on the 300 block of West 28th Street around 10:30 p.m. Monday, they noticed that the items were missing.

After issuing Powell a summons, police went to his house to investigate the potential robbery. At the house, police found an air conditioner that had been removed from the window and fingerprints on the window itself, according to the police report. The fingerprints were dusted and collected for evidence.

Police said that there have been multiple house robberies around the same neighborhood recently.
