Olmsted Twp. man critically hurt in crash on Ohio Turnpike

NORTH RIDGEVILLE — A crash around 4:45 p.m. Monday on the Ohio Turnpike just west of the Lorain Road exit critically injured an Olmsted Township man.

Earl Conner, 72, was in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland late Monday, according to a nursing supervisor.

Conner was westbound in a Chevrolet Blazer when he veered out of his lane and sideswiped a Chevrolet Silverado driven by city resident Joseph Mancuso III, according to Sgt. Michael Ramsey of the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Berea post. The Blazer flipped, and Conner was thrown from it, Ramsey said. It is unclear if Conner was wearing a seatbelt or why he lost control. Mancuso was unhurt.

The crash shut down two of the three westbound lanes as troopers investigated. Traffic resumed flowing normally at

6:48 p.m. Monday.
