Lorain police

Thursday, Aug. 1

11:13 p.m. — 200 block W. 13th St., a woman said her girlfriend was punched in the head and the mouth by her girlfriend’s intoxicated brother. Lifecare took the girlfriend, who lost a tooth, to the hospital. Officers could not locate the brother.

Saturday, Aug. 3

8:30 p.m. — Pearl Avenue and East 28th Street, a driver said a man driving south on Pearl Avenue sideswiped her northbound Ford Fusion, which was stopped at a red light. The woman gave the license plate of the Kia Amanti that hit her to police who said they found the damaged Kia at the home of the owner, who wasn’t home. The Kia was towed and held for the crash investigation.

Sunday, Aug. 4

Midnight — 2000 block Denver Ave., when completing a follow-up investigation of another crime, an officer and a tenant discovered the tenant’s handgun missing from his home. The man said he suspects his daughter’s boyfriend, who resides in the home. The tenant also reported the daughter’s boyfriend has been selling drugs out of his home.

5:30 p.m. — 3100 block Washington Ave., someone reported the screens in the windows were cut. Police said no one entered the building.

8:12 p.m. — 4100 block Marshall Ave., a woman reported the side door to her garage was open, a kitchen window broken and her rifle, three rings, costume jewelry and three watches missing after a trip to Columbus. There are no suspects.

8:13 p.m. — 4900 block Edgewood Drive, a woman reported her Coach purse was missing from her car.

8:17 p.m. — Super Kmart, 5350 Leavitt Road, Amanda Ray was arrested on charges of taking two T-shirts, which were found in her purse.

Sunday, Aug. 4

12:31 a.m. —Westbound state Route 57 near Lorain Boulevard, Joseph P. Sengstock charged with driving under the influence and cited for reasonable control and weaving course. The officer reported he could smell alcohol on Stengstock and that the man failed sobriety tests. Since 1990, Stengstock has been charged with driving under the influence six times.

1:02 p.m. — Planet Fitness, 1553 West River Road N., a woman said money, an iPad, GPS unit, laptop and diamond necklace were missing from her car, which she thought she had locked, at 12:25 p.m. Officers did not report signs of forced entry to the car.

5:20 p.m. — Basketball courts of Westway Gardens, Tracy Sorrell charged with theft after his child’s mother reported many of their child’s things were missing. After he refused to tell his child’s mother where their child’s clothes, birth certificate, Social Security card and medical cards were earlier that day, Sorrell left the residence on foot with their child. An officer found and arrested Sorrell, who would not say where the items were, and gave the child to the mother. He was held on $1,000 bond.

10:55 p.m. — Elyria Police Department, a man said that after verbally arguing with his wife, his wife grabbed him and kicked him twice in the left leg. Officers reported no visible injuries on the man and no charges were filed.
