10:12 a.m. — Chestnut Street, a woman reported that she found a menacing note taped to her door Monday, shortly after she arrived to her apartment around 10:30 a.m. The note read, “Betty, I want that pretty little baby face and I won’t take no for an answer.” The note was signed by the “Joker.”
4:02 p.m. — 250 N. Abbe Road, Humberto J. Zendejas, 55, was issued on a summons for theft from a grocery store on North Abbe Road. At around 3:54 p.m. he stuffed two packages of cheese and four salamis in his pants and tried to walk out of the store without paying. A store associate asked him to go back inside and he complied.
4:51 p.m. — 1000 block N. West River Road, a resident said her residence was burglarized Monday evening. She returned home around 9:30 p.m. Monday to find her back door open and clothes and jewelry missing.
Wednesday, July 24
Midnight — 1000 Chestnut Commons Drive, two men were arrested for shoplifting from Wal-Mart on Chestnut Commons Drive early Wednesday. The first man, Alan Saunders, 23, was questioned by store associates before police arrived. During the questioning he smashed his head into a wall and ran through the store without a shirt. He was found by police in a nearby neighborhood, still shirtless. The second suspect, 16, was found inside the store after Saunders’ arrest. He had a marijuana pipe and grinder in his pocket. Saunders was arrested for theft. The teen was arrested for theft, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and curfew.
Monday, July 22
1:41 a.m. — 1900 block E. 30th St., Scott Shawver, 33, 1900 block E. 29th St., Lorain, arrested and charged with felony domestic violence. Shawver’s girlfriend said he choked her and repeatedly kneed her in the groin while they were in bed. Police said they found Shawver, whom they said has two domestic violence convictions, hiding in a garage at 1968 E. 30th St. around 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Tuesday, July 23
3:15 p.m. — East 28th Street, Rachel Adams, 26, 500 block Georgetown Ave., Elyria, arrested and charged with two counts of obstructing official business and cited for a red-light violation. Adams ran a red light and gave a phony name when stopped because she had two arrest warrants for her, police said.
5:46 p.m. —1200 block W. 18th St., Aaron Gage, 20, same address, arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license. Aarion Gage, 18, same address, cited for allowing an unlicensed driver to drive a motor vehicle. Aaron Gage was stopped because police said he had two pending driving suspension charges and two active drug charges. They said Aarion Gage admitted to letting her brother drive her car even though she knew he didn’t have a valid license.
9:36 p.m. — Colorado Avenue near Fillmore Avenue, Orlando Rivera, 39, 2000 block Randall St., Lorain, arrested and charged with possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, illegal conveyance of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and cited for weaving. Police said Rivera was stopped for weaving and they found small amounts of heroin in his car and a small amount of cocaine in his pants.
