9:13 a.m. — 1500 block Prospect St., an apartment resident said someone stole her 10-speed bicycle off her back porch.
11:33 p.m. — Town & Country Co-op, 210 Huron St., the north glass door to the store was broken and beer and cigarettes were stolen, police said. A large bent screwdriver was found and is believed to have been used to pry the door open. The store manager said the break-in was the third at the store, but the first time items were stolen.
Monday, July 15
12:15 a.m. — Rite Aid 142 Broad St., a woman walking past the pharmacy said she saw a man trying to break in. Police found a broken window on the east side of the building and storage bins stacked near the window to gain entry to the building. Blood was found inside the store near the window and bicycle tracks were spotted outside, but a suspect was not found. Nothing appeared to be stolen.
Friday, July 12
3:46 p.m. — 3600 block Oberlin Ave., Steve Majcher, 54, homeless, arrested and charged with public indecency and disorderly conduct. Police said Majcher urinated on the sidewalk in front of St. Peter’s Church, and he continued walking as he was urinating, exposing himself to Oberlin Avenue traffic and surrounding businesses. Majcher was asked why he was urinating in public, and he told police he really “had to go.”
Saturday, July 13
11:08 a.m. — 4700 block Washington Ave., theft of a purse containing $50 in cash from a vehicle. A rock was used to break the vehicle’s window, police said.
2:25 p.m. —West 10th Street, an employee of Hats Off Barber Shop said a man left on a bicycle without paying for hair dye. He told police he chased the man, but he backed off after the suspect began yelling and cursing at him. The suspect was described as a tall, thin black man, approximately 19, with freshly dyed platinum blond hair.
Friday, July 5
7:41 p.m. — 1900 block Cooper Foster Park Road, a woman said $350 and her phone was taken from her purse while she shopped at Save-A-Lot.
8:59 p.m. — 1100 block Milan Ave., a man told police his black Lincoln MKZ was struck in the parking lot of the Amherst Eagles while he was inside. Police said the vehicle had a large scratch with red paint transfer and a broken mirror. The vehicle involved left the scene, police said.
Monday, July 8
3:21 p.m. — 100 block Lincoln St., Eugene King cited for disorderly conduct intoxicated after police were called to an apartment twice. King’s friend reported that King was unable to walk and he would not leave the apartment. Police took King to the hospital and his friend estimated King had consumed at least 12 beers and had been intoxicated for 24 hours.
10:31 p.m. — 900 block N. Leavitt Road, a woman reported that her prescription medication and a laptop were taken from her home in Lorain by her niece and her niece’s friend, who were trying to sell the items at Days Inn. The niece, Heather Skinner, was arrested on a warrant for DUI and theft at Days Inn. Stolen items were recovered. Police said charges are pending for unauthorized use of a credit card.
Tuesday, July 2
1:01 p.m. — Main Street Beach, police received a call from the Shore Thing Snack Shack that a suspicious package was found in the sand. Police examined the package, which was described as a Ziploc bag wrapped loosely in duct tape, which appeared to be cut open with a sharp object. The bag was empty, police said.
7:58 p.m. — 600 block Decatur St., a man was arrested after making profane remarks to an officer. Police said the man, whose name was not listed, then resisted arrest during a struggle with the officer.
Wednesday, July 3
7:15 a.m. — Liberty Avenue, Whispering Shore, reported threatening phone calls. Police are investigating.
9:15 p.m. — 4600 block Bridgeport Drive, a man reported he received threatening text messages from his roommate. He requested a report be made and was told to contact police if there were any more problems with the roommate.
Saturday, July 6
1:55 a.m. — South Shore Court and Liberty Avenue, Jeremy Radar cited for driving under suspension, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police said Radar had about 10 grams of marijuana and a digital scale hidden inside the trunk of his vehicle, which was detected by a K-9.
3:52 p.m. — 5200 block Liberty Ave., theft of a bag of ice from Vermilion Grocery and Deli.
Sunday, July 7
11:31 a.m. — 300 block Morton Road, theft of a wedding ring and a diamond ring from a woman’s home.
Monday, July 8
3:59 p.m. — 1200 block West River Road, reported theft of a motor vehicle.
6:38 p.m. — 1000 block Sweetbriar Drive, damage to a garage door. Police said a lawn care service may have been at fault and the matter is being investigated.
