Lorain police

Sunday, June 9

9:28 p.m. — 1400 block Tower Blvd., Michael Leibas, 35, same address, arrested and charged with domestic violence. Leibas’ wife said after arguing over Facebook, he pulled her shirt from behind choking her. Leibas admitted he grabbed his wife by the back of the shirt but denied choking her, police said.

9:47 p.m. — 1300 block Madison Ave., Denise Powers, 49, same address, arrested and charged with domestic violence. Powers’ husband, who said he is scheduled to have hip replacement surgery, said she shoved him after he called her an obscene name during an argument over their daughter damaging their van.

11:15 p.m. — 1000 block W. 14th St., Alexander B. Johnson, 39, 1300 block Washington Ave., Lorain, arrested and charged with burglary. Johnson’s ex-girlfriend said she called him by phone, but he came by in person and barged into her home without her permission. Police said Johnson told police the woman’s son pulled him into the home and punched him. Johnson said he was set up.

Monday, June 10

2:04 a.m. — 200 block Washington Avenue, a resident said her son’s four car tires were slashed and she believes it was done by a man retaliating for her reporting him to the Lorain County Department of Children’s Services.

2:57 a.m. — Shak’s Corner, 2009 W. 21st St., police said they found the front window to the store shattered with a rock.

Tuesday, May 28

7:58 a.m. — 5500 block of Liberty Ave., reported vandalism at Captain’s Chair.

8:05 p.m. — Showse Park, a 17-year-old girl was cited for no personal flotation device after officers had to check on her wellbeing. The girl’s father called police to say that he believed his daughter was out too far from the shore, and that she had fallen off her surfboard.

Wednesday, May 29

1:38 a.m. — 300 block of Aldrich Road, a resident reported receiving three harassing phone calls in 10 minutes from the same person. Police successfully traced the call and advised the woman to contact her phone company.

5:25 p.m. — 400 block of Woodridge Road, a man told police his ex-girlfriend came over and after a couple hours, he noticed his vehicle was missing from the driveway.

Friday, May 31

1:53 p.m. — 300 block of Cummings Road, a woman reported that she received fraudulent checks from a business she believed she was working for as a secret shopper.

Saturday, June 1

1:29 a.m. — Tiki Beach, officers found seven people at Tiki Beach after closing hours. Four of those located were arrested and charged with underage consumption.

2:19 a.m. — Decatur and South streets, Brandon Christiansen, 21, arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and weaving. Christiansen was stopped during a traffic stop and police said he had a blood-alcohol content of .140.

10:53 a.m. — 3400 block of Liberty Ave., a caller reported that it looked like someone tried to break into his business. Police said entry was not made and nothing was taken.

12:17 p.m. — 4400 block of Liberty Ave., police received a call about a vehicle striking a pedestrian and driving away. The vehicle was found at a house on state Route 60, and officers learned that the operator was involved in a rolling domestic altercation.

2:13 p.m. — 3900 block of Liberty Ave., an owner of Pit Barbeque Restaurant told police two women had ordered food that they were not happy with, and after speaking with the woman, she put $5 on the table and left without paying the check. One of the two women later called police to see if the restaurant had called about the unpaid check. Police contacted the women, and they agree to pay an additional $10. No charges are pending.

Wednesday, May 29

1:03 p.m. — 2200 block of Kresge Drive, an employee at Legacy Staffing told police a man came into the officer and asked for a copy of a resume. When she refused to provide the resume he did not have access to, the man allegedly urinated on the walls, floor, floor mats, toilet paper and paper towels in the bathroom. A warrant was issued for his arrest Friday on criminal mischief and disorderly conduct charges.

Tuesday, June 4

4:18 p.m. — 1400 block of Cooper Foster Park Road, the manager of Lakeshore Automotive told police he believed an employee had stolen at least $700 from the business by falsifying computer documents. He was told to gather more information for a police investigation.

11:45 p.m. — State Route 58 near Cleveland Avenue, a juvenile cited for disorderly conduct and littering. Corey Sittinger, 18, cited for disorderly conduct and littering. The boys were arrested after police received a report that they were throwing smoke bombs into the road from a vehicle.

Wednesday, June 5

10:52 a.m. — 100 block of Dane St., report of a vehicle entry. A man told police the person had also tried to break into his home by drilling a home in the key hole of his door.

Thursday, June 6

2:25 p.m. — 300 block of S. Lake St., theft of a dozen baseballs from a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home. The vehicle’s window was smashed to gain entry.

5:16 p.m. — 900 block of N. Lake St., a man reported that his wallet was stolen from his vehicle at Nate’s Marathon.
