Delivering to Lorain County 7 days a week

Lorain acquires road patching apparatus

LORAIN — Driving in Lorain may be smoother in the near future.

City Council members on Monday approved the purchase of a DuraPatcher. The machine sprays an emulsion/aggregate mix rather than asphalt, making repairs last longer. Hal Kendrick, Lorain’s public property manager, said the DuraPatcher will cost $61,654 and an emulsion tank for it will cost $22,500. Kendrick, whose job includes overseeing the Streets Department, said he hopes the equipment will be delivered in about five weeks.

The purchase comes as Council and Mayor Chase Ritenauer’s administration have begun major improvements on Lorain’s bumpy roads.

Some $17.7 million in improvements is being done this year.
