ELYRIA — A Lorain man who was convicted earlier this year of attempted rape and kidnapping for an attack on an 8-year-old girl was sentenced Thursday to 15 years to life in prison.
Anthony Aguirre, 36, also will be required to register as a sex offender if he is ultimately released from prison, Lorain County Common Pleas Judge James Miraldi ruled during Thursday’s hearing.
Aguirre was staying with a woman he knew from high school and the pair had been watching videos when the woman decided to go to bed. Aguirre, who had been drinking heavily, told her he was going to finish the video before he went to bed.
The woman told police that around 10 minutes later, she went downstairs to find Aguirre and discovered him in her daughter’s bedroom. Both Aguirre and the girl, who told police that Aguirre had sodomized her among other sexual acts, weren’t wearing underwear.
Aguirre was acquitted of rape by the jury who heard his case.
