Monday, May 6

2:15 p.m. — 700 block S. Abbe Road, Jason Peters, 40, Grafton, arrested and charged with domestic violence. Peters’ wife told police Peters said he only showed up to an appointment with her at Psych and Psych Associates so he could kill her, and he later sent her a text message of a tombstone and a picture of his wedding ring, stating that he “was going to keep the ring on until the very end.” The woman told police she ended her relationship with Peters because he threatened to kill their 10-year-old daughter.

3:46 p.m. — 100 block Riverside Court, theft of a video game system, video games and a cell phone from an apartment. A resident said he believed the burglar got into the apartment through a second-story window.

6:30 p.m. — 1200 block Foster Ave., Christopher McKinney, 24, 200 block New York Ave., issued a summons for carrying a concealed weapon. Officers were sent to West Park for a report that a man, later identified as McKinney, had a handgun in his waistline on the basketball court. McKinney denied having a weapon, but he said he had a BB-replica of a gun that was in the front seat of his car. McKinney said he carried the gun because he is paranoid around people. Police said McKinney was charged because he scared people in the park, who thought the weapon was a real gun.

10:41 p.m.—1000 block Melvyn Lane, an Elyria resident reported that an unknown woman came to her house and said she needed to pay her $2,000 or give her a television for doing her taxes. The resident told police she did not know what the woman was talking about because she did not file her taxes yet. The unknown woman reportedly told the resident she would “be in contact with her brother, who will settle this.”

11:30 p.m. — 100 block Fourth St., Daniel Anderson, 35, same address, arrested and charged with disorderly conduct persisting, resisting arrest, noise disturbance, open burning, dog running at large and dogs required to wear tags. Officers were sent to the backyard of Anderson’s home for noise and open fire complaints. Police said Anderson was confrontational toward police officers, saying that his music was not loud and he would not cooperate with an officer. Anderson was placed under arrest, at which time his dog, a Labrador, bit an officer’s leg. The dog did not have tags.

Lorain police

Monday, May 6

12:45 p.m. — 2400 block Broadway, theft of approximately $600 from a Pepsi machine at an office at Lorain Auto Service. The owner of the business said he believed a former employee had taken the money because the man had a key to the office, and the lock on the Pepsi machine was intact when the business closed for the night.

1:29 p.m. — 1600 block Cooper Foster Park Road, theft of payroll checks from Triad Staffing. The owner of the business said a former employee had cashed the checks.

2:32 pm. — 2900 block Colorado Ave., a 16-year-old girl arrested and charged with domestic violence for allegedly assaulting her mother. Police said the girl’s mother had a red mark on her face from being punched by the girl and scratches on her arm. The girl was on probation through Lorain County Juvenile Court for previous unruly behavior.

2:37 p.m. —1000 block W. 11th St., an employee for St. John United Church of Christ reported a $5 bill he tried to deposit to Lorain National Bank was counterfeit. He told police the money was collected as part of Sunday’s offering, so there was no way to tell who had placed the bill into the offering.

Thursday, April 25

7:22 a.m. —100 block Cornerstone Drive, a woman said her husband came home from work and became upset with her because “she had cheated on him.” The husband admitted he got upset and hit the wall, but did not cause any injuries. No charges were filed. Both parties were advised of the domestic violence law.

Sunday, April 28

6:27 p.m. — 200 block W. Herrick Ave., a gas station employee reported that a man drove off without paying. Contact was made with the man and he agreed to pay the $60.72 for gasoline.
