Sunday, May 5

4:43 p.m. — 200 block Courtland St., theft of a Kindle HD electronic tablet and $20 in cash from an unlocked vehicle that was left in an open garage.

6:47 p.m. — 300 block Louisiana Ave., a man reported damage to his garage door, which appeared to be made from someone trying to pry the door open.

9:04 p.m. — 1100 block West Ave., a 16-year-old boy arrested and charged with domestic violence. The boy’s mother told police he shoved her and threw headphones at her after police arrived at the home earlier that evening for a disturbance involving the boy. Police said the boy was belligerent toward officers and he believed the incident was funny.

Friday, May 3

5:34 p.m. — 300 block E. 28th St., the pastor of La Iglesia De Dios Inc. Church told police a neighbor, who was asked not to park in the church’s parking lot, removed a “no parking” sign and threw it on the ground, parking his car in the space. The neighbors denied moving the sign but said not allowing them to park in the space “is no Christian act by the church.”

Sunday, May 5

12:40 p.m. — 2400 block E. 37th St., reported theft of a 2000 Jeep Cherokee, burgundy with Ohio temporary tag X221467. The vehicle’s owner said he left the car parked on the side of the street unlocked and with a spare key on the front seat.

2:11 p.m. — 1100 block W. 8th St., theft of a 2000 Suzuki Hayabusa 1300z motorcycle, black and orange in color. The owner of the motorcycle said it was stolen from his garage sometime between Thursday and Sunday afternoon.

5:37 p.m. — 400 block W. 23rd St., Brian Dempsey, 33, arrested and charged with domestic violence. Police said it was reported that Dempsey choked his ex-girlfriend’s juvenile son and grabbed her daughter’s arm. The children’s mother told police she and Dempsey ended their relationship a year ago, but she allowed him to stay with her recently because he was homeless. She said Dempsey told her that the children had a “smart mouth,” and he “yoked (her son) up” to discipline him, but she did not want to press charges. Police said Dempsey had two prior felony domestic violence convictions — in 2008 and 2009 — and an open case.

Friday, April 26

4:32 p.m. — 700 block N. Leavitt Road, Jennifer Robinson arrested and charged with driving under the influence and state refusal. Police received calls that Robinson was driving erratically on state Route 2, and police said she appeared to be intoxicated. Robinson told police she drove from North Ridgeville to visit a friend at Motel 6.

6:22 p.m. — Lorain County Jail, police served a warrant to Dianea Huhn for failing to comply with treatment at Lorain County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services and report to community control.

Saturday, April 27

12:02 p.m. — Linn Road, a LaGrange woman reported that her vehicle’s right side window had been shattered by some type of projectile while she was on Linn Road. She believed the projectile may have come from an occupied vehicle in the parking lot of a dentist’s office at the corner of Cooper Foster Park and Linn roads. She provided police with a description of the driver and the vehicle.

Tuesday, April 23

3:03 p.m. — Nantucket Place, reported theft from an apartment building.

6:43 p.m. — 600 block S. Shore Court, menacing complaint.

Wednesday, April 24

9:55 a.m. — 5300 block Sailorway Drive, an officer was sent to Sailorway Middle School for a reported assault.

3:32 p.m. — 3700 block Edgewater Drive, police said a stainless steel kitchen hood, valued at $1,000, was taken from the VOL clubhouse sometime during the month. Police have no suspects.

Thursday, April 25

5:34 a.m. — 900 block Jackson St., a man arrested for assault and taken to Erie County Jail, no name given. Police said the man was not a resident of the home officers were called to.

9:39 a.m. — 1200 block Sanford St., reported fight between two male students at Vermilion High School.

2:19 p.m. — 4700 block Liberty Ave., shoplifting complaint from Dollar General Store. The suspects had already left the area, and they were not located.

Friday, April 26

3:46 p.m. — South and State streets, a caller reported that the driver of a gold Cavalier left Get-Go and drove into traffic without looking, causing an accident. No injuries were reported.

Saturday, April 27

11:03 a.m. — 800 block Howard Drive, theft of several items from a locked shed.

Sunday, April 28

12:15 a.m. — 400 block Nantucket Place, Jose Carrion Jr. arrested and charged with domestic violence. Carrion’s wife said Carrion came home intoxicated and punched her.
