3 p.m. — 300 block Washington Ave., James Justice, 43, arrested and charged with theft by deception, possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. An 87-year-old woman told police she gave $40 to Justice for a laptop he said he was selling, and Justice left without returning the money or the laptop. Police found Justice in a wooded area and said he was carrying a pipe that tested positive for cocaine residue.
Tuesday, April 30
12:17 a.m. — 100 block David Drive, a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend broke into her apartment and stole money out of her purse. The man told police the damage to the woman’s door was old and that he was just retrieving money that he had given the woman to pay bills before their relationship ended. Police said officers were sent to the woman’s apartment on Monday for a similar incident involving the man.
3:39 a.m. — 400 block Georgia Ave., officers were sent to the home for a burglary in progress, but the suspect was gone prior to police arriving. No items were taken from the home.
10:52 a.m. — 300 block Roosevelt Ave., a man reported that he was bitten by his neighbor’s pit bull, which was on a leash that reached to his driveway. Police contacted the owner of the dog, who told police the dog had its rabies shots and that she was going to shorten its leash. The man went to the hospital for his injuries, but he did not require stitches.
3:35 p.m. — 100 block West Ave., a woman reported that her daughter was being bullied by another Elyria High School student, and she contacted the principal but the bullying has continued.
3:45 p.m. — 1100 block Oakwood Drive, officers arrived at a home to investigate a hit-skip accident that occurred on East Broad Street and state Route 57, believing that the driver lived in the home. A resident, Sarah Bolin, told police she was driving, but she later said her boyfriend, John Rhodes Jr., had driven the car. Rhodes was arrested on a warrant and Bolin issued a summons for a warrant.
Wednesday, May 1
3:24 a.m. — 1000 block Barbara St., Brunett Tarrant, 24, 100 block Hancock Lane, arrested and charged with assault. Police were sent to the area for a fight between several people. When an officer arrived, Tarrant was seen grabbing another woman’s hair and punching her approximately 10 to 12 times in the face. The women were separated, and Tarrant was taken to jail.

9:11 a.m. — 7200 block of Noll Drive, Steve R. Elkins, of North Ridgeville, charged with domestic violence and assault.
Friday, April 26
12:01 a.m. — Meadow Lakes Boulevard and Center Ridge Road, Daniel A. Smith, 36, of Avon, charged with driving under the influence and reasonable control.
Saturday, April 27
2:11 a.m. — 6000 block of Denise Drive, a Joseph Court resident reported his yard being turfed by a large, dark-colored pickup. Brian D. Hopkins, 20, of LaGrange, who police said is accused of driving the vehicle, was found later at a Denise Drive residence and arrested on charges of criminal damage and underage possession of liquor.
12:49 p.m. — Jaycox Road, Pamela S. Bernabale, 62, of North Ridgeville, is charged with operating a vehicle under the influence after she was found in the parking lot of a beverage drive-through, police said.
6:02 p.m. — 5500 block of Birch St., a resident reported finding an ammunition clip for a pistol. Reports said the clip contained 10 rounds of .40 caliber bullets.

12:33 a.m. — 33312 Center Ridge Road, Warren E. Baker, 42, of Bedford, charged with driving under the influence and improper backing after police said he nearly struck a police cruiser while backing out of the Century tavern parking lot onto Center Ridge Road.
11:42 p.m. — 5900 block of Lear-Nagle Road, Sarah M. Howard, 26, of South Amherst, charged with assault.
