The search for the next Midview superintendent will include a session with residents who will be asked to meet the three finalists from among 28 applicants.
A community meeting will start 9 a.m. March 23, at which time parents and residents will have a chance to meet the candidates — Scott Goggin, Midview’s director of professional education services; Curtis Clough, superintendent of Strasburg-Franklin Schools; and Mark Wilcheck, superintendent at Minford Schools.
All three will have second-round interviews with board members Saturday.
During the community meeting, each will give a 15-minute presentation regarding their proposed plans for Midview. Time will be left at the end of each presentation for questions and answers. After each candidate has spoken, attendees will be surveyed about their thoughts on the candidates.
“As part of our promise to be open and transparent, we are giving the community a chance to meet the individuals we are considering to lead Midview,” said board President Kathy Quintiliano. “It’s important for our residents to understand the direction we are heading and provide their thoughts on the type of leader they want to see for the district.”
Superintendent John Kuhn will retire at the end of this school year.
The process to find the next superintendent started weeks ago when the board asked applicants to submit resumes.
Twenty-eight educators applied and eight were initially interviewed on Saturday and Tuesday, including the finalists and others — Aurora Schools Director of Business Services Gregory Pollock; Columbia Superintendent Graig Bansek; Crestline Schools Superintendent David Heflinger; Midview’s Director of Facilities Susan Bobola; and Frontier Local Superintendent Bruce Kidder.
“Midview is in a positive place right now,” Quintiliano said. “Thanks to the support of our community, we are financially sound and offer quality academic programs and extracurricular activities for our students. We want someone who can continue to lead us in a positive direction. We’ve interviewed some excellent candidates, and I look forward to the final phases of the process.”
