Elyria man shot Saturday night near South Abbe Road

ELYRIA — An Elyria man said he was in a vehicle dropping off a friend in the area of 570 Purdue Ave. around 11:30 p.m. Saturday when he was approached by two men, one of whom shot him in the neck, police said.

Que Gray, 19, told police he knew one of the men, but not the shooter, according to police Capt. Chris Costantino. The shooting is not believed to be a random robbery attempt. Descriptions of the suspects and a report on the shooting were unavailable Sunday.

Costantino said Gray was taken to Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland. A nursing supervisor said she had no information on Gray. The east side shooting occurred between Prospect Street and Warren Avenue near South Abbe Road.
