AVON — Avon police say they have discredited a rumor circulating about a threat at Avon High School.
Lt. Dan Fischbach said the threat was posted to Twitter three weeks ago and had already been looked into by police.
Someone re-Tweeted the post last night, however, causing renewed concern in the school, he said.
The initial threat involved was "very general" and contained "no specific threat," Fischbach said.
He said rumors mentioned a gun and a hit list, but those rumors have been discredited.
Police had a stepped-up presence at Avon High this morning just to make sure students and parents were comfortable, Fischbach said.
