CARLISLE TWP. — A Grafton man was arrested early Sunday after he allegedly tried to run over an ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend in the parking lot of a local bar.
Daniel Parrack, 45, is charged with felonious assault, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and reckless operation on private property, according to a report from the Lorain County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to the LaPorte Inn, at Grafton and Butternut Ridge roads, about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
They found Parrack in the parking lot in a Ford Expedition.
Wendy Jo Stinnett, 45, of North Ridgeville told deputies that Parrack attempted to run her over, as well as her boyfriend, Matthews Maiorino, 33, of Mayfield.
She said she had been in a relationship with Parrack in the summer and that their "friendship is hostile" now due to her having a new boyfriend, the report said. She said Parrack has been sending her threatening text messages.
Stinnett told deputies she arrived at the LaPorte Inn Saturday evening to celebrate a friend's birthday, and Maiorino and Parrack became involved in a "heated verbal altercation."
She said she and Maiorino decided to leave to avoid further problems but had to return to get Maiorino's credit card. When they went back outside the bar, Parrack was in his vehicle, the report said.
She said Parrack then accelerated, striking both her and Maiorino.
Several witnesses gave accounts similar to Stinnett's, according to the report.
Parrack told deputies Maiorino confronted him first about making threats to Stinnett and said he tried to leave the bar but was stopped in the parking lot by Maiorino who was punching and spitting on his window.
He also told deputies he thought his vehicle was in reverse when he accelerated and struck the two.
When questioned by deputies, Parrack admitted to drinking 10 beers during the night, the report said. He refused to submit to a sobriety test request.
