UPDATE: Four people shot overnight in Lorain; one dead

LORAIN -- A shooting at Liberty Gas Station on Broadway that left one Lorain man dead started from a confrontation at the Cotton Club, according to police.

According to a news release, officers were called to the Cotton Club, 1766 E. 28th St., at 3:06 a.m. for a report of unwanted men, some of whom had guns. Police arrived to find no problem and cleared the scene but stayed in the area.

At 3:25 a.m., officers near the bar reported hearing shots fired, with the suspects fleeing in a black SUV. While still at the scene of the reported shots near the club, police were then sent to Liberty Gas Station for a shooting.

Herman Seagers, 33, was transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center and later to Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland for a serious gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Three others -- Tallis Moore, 33; Allen Tate, Sr., 34; and Damian Bell, 25 -- were taken to Mercy for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the shooting, and police spokesman Lt. Roger Watkins said more information should be released Wednesday.
